About the BNMS Print E-mail

The BNMS is an organisation concerned with the clinical practice, education, research and development of nuclear medicine within the UK. Membership of the BNMS is open to those who have a substantial interest and involvement in the provision of nuclear medicine services. The Society is a registered charity, which works largely through its members to promote the clinical benefits of the specialty.  The official journal of the society is Nuclear Medicine Communications.

The major aims of the BNMS include:
Raising the profile of nuclear medicine within the wider medical community. Providing a forum for the communication of advances in nuclear medicine, through annual and local scientific meetings and through the BNMS official Journal - Nuclear Medicine Communications.

Supporting the establishment and provision of appropriate training in nuclear medicine.

Representation on official bodies concerned with the regulation of the clinical uses of radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals.

As well as co-operating with other interested bodies, the BNMS holds scientific and educational meetings around the UK and through its committees, promotes countrywide audit and quality assurance activities.

The Society has produced advice for purchasers on clinical and technical requirements and standards for Nuclear Medicine.
