The attached information describes the functionality, development timetableand costs of the recently procured Image Exchange Portal. This service wasprocured by the Department of Health (DH) and is currently beingimplemented by a joint DH/Connecting for Health Team.The service provides an opportunity to implement a common system forexchanging images across organisations. The system has been designed tooffer the opportunity to enhance the benefits of PACS systems andcompliment existing systems.

GOING FURTHER ON CANCER WAITS

Dear colleague,

As you know, the Government’s Cancer Reform Strategy, which was published one year ago, set out an ambitious programme to improve cancer services further, with the aim being to make our cancer services amongst the best in the world by 2012. This included a specific aim to ensure that more patients benefit from the success of the existing cancer waiting times standards. I am writing to update you about progress in expanding these standards, and to set out the changes that you will be seeing from 1 January 2009.
