You can download the required forms to get an idea of what the visit will comprise.Following a request for an audit visit, the host department will be asked to complete:- 

  • An 'Organisational Audit' self-appraisal questionnaire.
  • A 'Trust' or 'District' information profile questionnaire.
  • A 'Radiopharmacy' self-appraisal questionnaire.
  • Sign a Duty of Care/Contract, which defines the status of the survey and the conditions upon which it will be undertaken
 

Identified Benefits of Organisational Audit

  • The self-appraisal document will flag defaults that may be corrected ahead of the visit.
  • Identification to the Head of Department of defaults for which he may be legally responsible but is unaware.
  • Education to the extent that the Standards refer to model practice. They highlight standards that may be regulatory or statutory and must be met, but provide a spectrum of good practice.
  • Peer Group reports from a Specialist Society or College may be tools to influence a cost conscious management or to add weight to a case.

Following such visits most departments identify that staffing level issues have been addressed, documentation has been extended or updated, communication within and beyond the Department has improved, model documents/protocols are borrowed/adopted from other sites etc, etc.

Standards for BNMS Auditors

BNMS Auditors must be members of the BNMS.  Training consists of:

  • An induction day.
  • Apprenticeship on a audit visit

The Department of each auditor will have been audited or have an audit planned

  •  Auditors must act with integrity with regard to commercially sensitive issues
  • Auditors are bound by the constraint of absolute confidentiality with regard to an Audit visit
  • Before leaving the department the Audit Team must identify all negative findings that may be included in the final report.

The 'Final Report' should reach the host department within four weeks of the audit.
