The open learning programme was developed in Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust to support Trainers and practitioners develop the theoretical knowledge to support the practical aspects of clinical skills training and should be used in conjunction with a trainer. The trainer should be aware of local policies and procedures, be an experienced practitioner in the skill and have a recognized qualification in teaching and assessment The programme is aimed at practitioners who will -take blood samples-insert IV cannulars according to local policy.
