Travel Information

Getting to the SEC, Glasgow

Glasgow central station

Train

The campus has its own dedicated railway station – Exhibition Centre - allowing easy access from the city centre and suburbs. There are six trains an hour (around every 10 minutes) from Glasgow Central station, departing from Platform 17 (low level).

Car

The SEC (Scottish Event Campus) is conveniently situated for motorists, just off the M8 motorway and with plenty of parking.
Leave the M8 at junction 19 and join the westbound Clydeside Expressway (A814). Westbound on the Expressway (A814) take the cut off for the campus. Turn left at traffic lights and take the right lane to access multi-storey parking.

Bus

The X19 Stagecoach service operates near to the Scottish Event Campus, stopping on Finnieston Street only a few minutes’ walk from the venues. Find out more here

Taxis

There is a Glasgow Taxis pick-up and drop-off point outside the SEC Armadillo.

Walking

The Clyde Walkway runs right past the SEC, providing an invigorating start to day time events, or a scenic stroll to night-time happenings.


Getting to Glasgow

Plane

Glasgow has 3 international airports nearby, with connections across the UK and the world:
Glasgow Airport is the closest airport to the city centre. Catch the express bus service from outside the terminal and arrive in Glasgow in around 15 minutes. Find out more https://www.glasgowairport.com/
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is 32 miles (51km) from Glasgow. It is very accessible with train and bus services to the city centre. Find out more https://www.glasgowprestwick.com/
Edinburgh Airport is 39 miles (63km) from Glasgow. There is a direct bus service from the airport to Glasgow’s Buchanan Bus Station which takes around 1 hour. Find out more https://www.edinburghairport.com/

Train

Glasgow Central Station links Glasgow by rail to the south, with Glasgow Queen Street Station operating routes mainly to Edinburgh and the north. Visit the ScotRail website for information on all routes and timetables.

Car

Scotland has an extensive motorway road network. Glasgow is linked to the following places:
Edinburgh with the M8
England on either the A1, M6 or M74
Stirling with the M80
West coast of Scotland with the M77

Be aware that Glasgow has introduced a Low Emission Zone (LEZ) in the city centre. All vehicles entering the LEZ must meet the low-emission standards or face a penalty charge. Find out more here

Bus

First Bus operates an express service between the city centre and Glasgow Airport with a journey time of around 15 minutes. Find details here

Subway

The subway is one of the easiest ways to get around the city centre, west end and southside of Glasgow. Running every 4 minutes at peak times, it takes just 24 minutes to complete a circuit of the 15 stations.

Taxis

Glasgow's taxi drivers are some of the friendliest in the world. Glasgow Taxis operate 5 and 6-seater cabs in and around the city. View the website here
