This event is endorsed by the BNMS The stress leaders workshop is an intensive two-day training scheme aimed specifically at Technologists, Radiographers, Nurses and Clinical Scientists working within Nuclear Medicine. It aims to deliver the cores skills and underpinning knowledge to deliver safe stress tests within the modern Nuclear Medicine department. Day one features the ECG reporting workshop: demonstrating a standardised approach to interpreting any ECG which doubles as a framework for reporting. The day aims to deliver the core skills necessary to create salient twelve lead ECG reports. Taking the form of informal, highly interactive lectures covering the assessment of: Rate, Rhythm, Axis, Conduction, ST and T morphologies. Post course, two extensive workbooks are provided for revision with 100 further full size 12 lead ECGs and further tests to hone the candidates new skills iteratively. Day two you will be taught a standardised approach to interpreting any stress test. The course aims to deliver the core skills necessary to safely engage in stress testing and produce salient reports. The informal interactive lectures covering: stress testing (physiological and pharmacological), clinical examination, effects of common therapies on stress, stress test ECG reporting and anticipating emergencies - including walkthrough cases. Pharmacological content will include the use of adenosine, regadenoson and dobutamine. Post course a further two extensive workbooks are provided for revision with further ECGs, ETTs and cases to test and hone your new skills. Additionally, 50 further stress tests with full size 12 lead and a further 10 cases are presented to shape your reporting and decision-making skills. The post course material concludes with a guide to achieving and maintaining competence in stress testing. Please note there is a significant pre and post course reading commitment. The course supports the ongoing process of gaining competence via post course workbooks to ensure a thorough grounding in physiological / pharmacological stress testing practice. Robin Mark McDade, who delivers the course, has over 25 year’s experience as a Clinical Technologist in Nuclear Cardiology. He is also registered with the Academy of Healthcare Science as a Physiologist and the British Science Council as a Chartered Scientist. He has been an Advanced Life Support provider and an UKRC ILS instructor for over a decade. The cost of the course is £500 pound per candidate. As consistent interaction is necessary the course candidate numbers will be kept to 25 and is often oversubscribed.
