BNMS Innovative Team of the Year Award

This BNMS award is to celebrate teams that are developing innovative and creative ways of improving the services they deliver.  The aim of this award is to encourage innovation leading to improvement in procedures, practices and service levels.   It is hoped that ideas put forward by the competing teams can be adopted by other departments for improving service.

Entries

  • For the purpose of this scheme a team is defined as a group of two or more members.  
  • The award is open to all members of staff in hospital departments, both full and part-time who work in nuclear medicine.
  • Submissions will be evaluated on the initial submission form and the finalists video presentation .
  • The award is open to UK based teams/departments with projects active in the year leading up to the award.
  • Each NHS Trust in England is permitted to submit only one application. For teams from other nations, please contact us for information on how to submit your entries.
  • Examples of innovative projects may include projects to: reduce waste; improve operational efficiency; improve training; create an improved working environment or improve the patient experience.
  • All finalists will be invited to attend the final at the annual spring meeting.
  • At least one member of each of the finalist teams must register and attend the Spring meeting for the final.
  • The award consists of a plaque or trophy for the successful team’s department.
  • Submissions will be published in full on the BNMS website as well as the finalists’ video submissions.

Entries should give details of a problem that needed addressing and a project/process that was put in place to successfully overcome or minimise this problem.

Entries are invited at the same time as the abstract submissions for the BNMS Annual Spring Meeting 2026 and with the same deadline of 16th January 2026.

Finalists

The three top scoring teams will be shortlisted for the final and will be asked to create a 2 minute video featuring the team and their proposal.  

The three finalists’ videos will be published on the BNMS website and BNMS members will be invited to vote on their favourite team/entry.      

At the Annual Spring meeting delegates will be invited to view the videos and vote for their favourite team.  Votes from members and delegates will be collated and the highest scoring proposal will win and the winners and runners up will be announced during the meeting. A plaque will be awarded to the winning team and the two runners up will received Highly Commended Certificates.
